Because I don’t have vast experience using WordPress, I was bound to hit some obstacles when trying to match my mockup for this site. The hardest part was getting the menu right. I used a tutorial to make the interactive dropdown then tackled the responsiveness using a plugin. I needed to figure out how to create different types of menus in order to get the dropdown menu separate from the main pages, while keeping both within the responsive navigation.  For this I sourced this blog post tutorial by Jenni McKinnon on how to add more navigation menus to your theme. I also followed documentation on the WordPress Codex for wp_nav_menu to understand the theme_location parameter when writing the code into my header for each separate menu. This step may have actually come before making both menus together responsive, but I digress. I separated the parts of the menu by making them two separate menus. This came in handy since the Topics menu features on the single post pages too.
